Review: Man-Thing #2 (2017)

In the previous review on issue #1 I wrote about how I didn’t really enjoy how Stein was approaching the character of Man-Thing – I said the humor just a bit off and just the characterization of Man-Thing was … interesting, but not to my liking. I did however note that I expressed a hope that it could get better and head in a different direction. That has in fact happened. Issue #2 is in fact better and it is in fact headed in a different direction…but only slightly.

Marvel films have taken some criticism for their [...]

Ohh…Yeah: Guardians of the Galaxy Delivers

The one thing you should take away after reading this is Guardians of the Galaxy is simply a hell of a lot of fun. No dystopian futures, no post-apocalyptic wastelands; just pure, unadulterated space fun. Shiny ships and space pirates and secret objects with hidden meanings, strange creatures and funny jokes. For those reasons if [...]

Something good. Something bad. A bit of Both: A Guardians of the Galaxy History

Okay, I’ll admit that when Marvel announced Guardians of the Galaxy as part of its Phase II I was … skeptical. It’s a relatively unknown franchise that features a sentient tree and a talking raccoon as major characters, that’s a bit of a gamble. Don’t get me wrong I was thinking kudos for taking the [...]

Captain America: The Winter Soldier: Reaction & Speculation & A Self-Indulgent Nerdfest

Ever since its announcement Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been widely anticipated and has had huge expectations placed upon it.  Expectations so huge, in fact, that it would be rare if not impossible for it to meet those expectations. That makes it all the more surprising that it not only met them, it exceeded [...]
